Eduardo L. Vasconcelos

Eduardo Vasconcelos holds a PhD in Contemporary Communication and Culture from the Federal University of Bahia (Poscom/UFBA), with a one-year sandwich period at NOVA University Lisbon. During his time at iNOVA Media Lab, he worked as a research assistant for the Designing With AI, ML, and DV project, a partnership between NOVA University Lisbon, the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), funded by the Swiss research funding agency Movetia. He has a Bachelor's degree in Social Communication with a specialization in Journalism from the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL-2013), a specialization in Photography from the University of Araraquara (UNIARA-2016), and a Master's degree in Contemporary Communication and Culture from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA-2018). He has been a member of the Online Journalism Research Group (GJOL/UFBA) since 2016. He conducts research in digital journalism, photography, photojournalism, image technologies, and visual methodologies.

Suzana Barbosa

Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and permanent professor in the Graduate Program in Contemporary Communication and Culture (PósCom) at the School of Communication of the Federal University of Bahia (FACOM UFBA). Researcher and coordinator of the Online Journalism Research Group (GJOL). In 2023, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the School of Communications and Arts and PPGCOM, University of São Paulo (ECA USP), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Elizabeth Saad. Was a visiting professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid between October and December 2023, with a grant from the Capes Print UFBA Program. She is the lead researcher of the Research Project #AcesseJOR: social innovation protocol for digital journalism (CNPq/MCTI/FNDCT Call No.18/2021 - Track A - Emerging Groups). Between 2020 and 2024, served as coordinator and vice-coordinator of the Journalism Studies Working Group at Compós (National Association of Graduate Programs in Communication). Currently serves as the coordinator of PósCom UFBA. Member and coordinator of the Communication and Information Commission for the jury of the first Academic Jabuti Award (2024). In April 2022, conducted a Technical-Scientific Work Mission through the Capes Print UFBA Program (Notice 004/2021) at the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, based at the Moody College of Communications School of Journalism, University of Texas at Austin. In November 2021, completed two consecutive terms as director of FACOM UFBA (2013 to 2021). Coordinated the Convergent Journalism Laboratory Project (MCTI/CNPq/MEC/CAPES 22/2014), which ran from December 2014 to June 2017. Research under this project began in 2011, through Notice PPP n 0060 from the Bahia State Research Support Foundation (FAPESB, 2011-2014). Completed doctoral research at the Online Communication and Content Laboratory (LabCOM) at the University of Beira Interior (Portugal), under the guidance of Professor António Fidalgo. Completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, through the Brazil-Spain Cooperation Program (funded by MEC/CAPES/DGU and Spain's Ministry of Education and Science), under the supervision of professors Xosé López García and José Pereira Fariña. Worked for two years (2008-2010) as an adjunct professor in the Department of Social Communication at Fluminense Federal University (UFF). In 2008, received the Adelmo Genro Filho Award granted by the Brazilian Association of Journalism Researchers (SBPJor) for "Best Doctoral Dissertation in Journalism" (titled "Database Digital Journalism (JDBD) - A paradigm for dynamic digital journalistic products"), defended at PósCom FACOM UFBA in March 2007. Holds a master's degree (2002), also from PósCom, and graduated in Journalism (1993) from FACOM UFBA. Research areas: Digital Journalism, Digital Network Journalism, Database Journalism, Mobile Journalism, Convergent Journalism, Innovation in Journalism, Platformization of Journalism.
